History of yoga
Emmanuel has been teaching yoga since 2019 after completing Claire and Zeynep’s first teacher training. While in training, he became infatuated with yoga philosophy and history in general. The question he kept asking himself and which sparked this interest was “why learn about the sutras if we mostly teach asanas to our students?” The Pandora box was opened, and after following online courses with the Oxford Centre for Hindu studies, listening to a lot of podcasts and reading a bunch of books on the topic, more question had arisen and many answers were both fascinating and unsettling. Emmanuel will be more than delighted to share with you his thoughts on the topic.
When he’s not talking about the history of yoga, he teaches economics classes at various universities in Geneva and also co-organizes the “jazz sur la plage festival” in Hermance.
After years of dancing and after passing my diploma in History of Art at La Sorbonne, I discovered Yoga in Los Angeles in 2002 where I learnt a lot before coming back to France. It was a revelation and became, little by little, essential in my life. After being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease of the liver (CBP) and after working in production, public relations and communication in the cinema area, I decided to teach yoga. It was a life-saving decision of transmission of what what good for me.
Founder of Riviera yoga studio in Nice (France) in 2014, my classes reflect experiences and are born from all the yoga practices I studied: Ashtanga , Vinyasa, Hatha, LiquidFlow, Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra.
During my (french and english) classes, we work on alignement, anchoring to lengthen more, strengthen and find space. I wish to honore the breath, our inner music and our ability to discover our deep Self. The breath is the fundamental union between our physical and subtle body.
I believe yoga has a beneficial effect on our parasympathetic system. It releases tensions, calms, and cleans the body. We become aware of our breath (our vital energy) and our body; thanks to yoga, we can find a certain balance and an inside and outside wellness. I always add a hint of poesy, lightness and humour during practice. Let's not take ourselves too seriously!
After succeeding in one of the most prestigious French business school, Cécile decided to quit a promising career in marketing to share what she thought to have a profound meaning: Yoga.
Her passion led her to cross the world to study with the most renowned teachers (Biff Mithoefer, Bernie Clark, Judith Lasater and Shiva Rea). Cécile is 500 -RYT certified (in Ashtanga and Prana Flow (Vinyasa Yoga). She is also certified in Yin and Restorative Yoga. Since 2005 she loves to transmit a yoga that fits each individual properly, respecting one’s own body and nourishing the mind.
Cécile offers workshops, retreats and teacher trainings (in Yin Yoga) in France and around the world.
She just released the first book on Yin Yoga in French « Yin Yoga, Lâcher-Prise-Méditation-Simplicité » (Ed. First)

" I can warmly recommend this program. Claire and Zeynep are clearly seasoned teachers, and overall, their styles beautifully complement each other. They handle all aspects of the training with dedication and professionalism. Claire leads inspired Vinyasa Flow sequences. She is very deliberate and prepared, yet playful in her teaching. Zeynep's Hatha Flow classes ask students to turn inwards and listen, and practice from within. Zeynep has a profound understanding of yogic philosophy, and taught it from a place of experience and wisdom, conveying hard-to-grasp concepts with ease. By the end of the training, they had built a beautifully supportive and inclusive community of new yoga teachers. I am very pleased to have chosen this program. Thank you!"
