Book review: Awakening the spine, Vanda Scaravelli

This book was highly recommended by one of my teachers, Simon Park, and it had been on my wish list for a while before I decided to buy it this summer.

To summarize, it was a great read, and I appreciated it from the beginning to the end! It is extremely easy to read, full of nice images, and very poetic.

Just like an impressionist painter, the author adds touches after touches of small bits that depict her view of yoga.

From the image of the tree, to the physics of energy and matter, to the history of her teachers, through Egyptian dancers, eagles and waves, Vanda Scaravelli describes the beauty and meaning of Yoga.

If you are looking for a classic and theoretical book on asanas and yoga, this is not the book for you, but if you are ready to let yourself be surprised and go with the flow, it is perfect!

It is difficult to describe this book, because it doesn't look like anything I read before, but I strongly recommend it, both for the curious yogi explorer and the experienced practitioner.
